My first day at Miller is over. It was a pretty good day, and the people all strike me as such that they will be easy to work with. Actually I haven’t worked with anyone in any of the Architecture firms I’ve been at that was difficult to work with except for one boss. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a computer for me already too. Every other firm I’ve ever worked for was taken a minimum of a week to get me a computer. In fact, the first firm I ever worked for (a summer job) never did get me a computer to work on, I had to jump around to machines at other peoples desks when they were out of the office for meetings or sick, or whatever. The down side here is that even though I won’t have to wait a week to get a computer, it will take me at least that long to figure out how to use it. By the way, when will Apple finally go out of business?

The biggest question I have, as mentioned in the title, is when do I sleep? I wanted to take a nap after lunch today. How bad would that look? First day on the job and I’m making a drool puddle on my keyboard? But really, it’s going to take a lot of getting used to, getting up early to drive so far to work all day and drive so far back home. Sundays are going to be precious, as they will be my only chance to sleep in. Speaking of, my prediction is that after getting up before 6am all week, I won’t be able to sleep later than 8am (at the latest) on Sunday.

I realized there was another thing that will be cool about moving. I’ll be close enough to work that I will be able to go home for lunch every day. That means I can eat decent food, and eat cheap. That’s not something I can usually do more than once in a while (eat cheap and eat decent).
