The Truth Has a Way of Coming Out

These people try to pass themselves off as being “loving” and “kind” people. Every so often, you get a true insight into their character though.

Foreman was asked: “Is getting the right to marriage for same-sex couples something the Task Force is interested in?”

He responded: “We want full equality under the law, which, right now, means the freedom to marry. But we’re also hopeful that we create different ways in which people can form relationships and families that don’t come with all the baggage and the downsides of marriage (emphasis mine). One of the great things about where we’re going is that we are creating new ways for people to relate, new ways for people to obtain rights and benefits.”

From the Front Lines

I got an email today from a friend who forwarded the following from a friend of his.

This is a letter from Ray Reynolds, a medic in the Iowa Army National Guard, serving in Iraq:

As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing.)

* Over 400,000 kids have up-to-date immunizations.
* School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war.
* Over 1,500 schools have been renovated and rid of the weapons stored there so education can occur.
* The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off-loaded from ships faster.
* The country had its first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August.
* Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq.
* The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war.
* 100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed, compared to 35% before the war.
* Elections are taking place in every major city, and city councils are in place.
* Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.
* Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets.
* Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country.
* Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers.
* Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever.
* Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs.
* An interim constitution has been signed.
* Girls are allowed to attend school.
* Textbooks that don’t mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years.

Don’t believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there, and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. So If you happen to run into John Kerry, be sure to give him my email address and send him to Denison, Iowa. This soldier will set him straight. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening.

Hero Slander

There has been a lot of talk in the news lately about Pat Tillman, the Army Ranger who was killed in Afghanistan. He walked away from a lucritive career in the NFL to serve his country. What I don’t get is the reaction of the Left. They talk about being compassionate, and valuing life, and lately they’ve been pissing on Tillman’s grave. This man is a true hero, who valued freedom enough to fight for it. Those on the left, however, hypocritically throw the accusation of “baby killer” at him. Let’s see, who is it that has fought to make sure that women have the right to murder their babies, resulting in a bloodbath of over 40 million killed in 30 years? I don’t know if Tillman took the life of anyone while serving in Afghanistan, but if he did, it was to preserve life back home in the U.S.

God Bless Pat Tillman, and may he rest in peace.

So Long

Today is the day that the last Oldsmobile rolls off the assembly line. I had heard that GM was dropping the Oldsmobile a few years ago, and assumed that it had happened by now, but it hadn’t until today. Oldsmobile began back in 1897, and was, until today, the oldest auto manufacturer in the world.

Can’t say I blame GM. What’s the difference between Oldsmobile and Buick?

I’m a Dunce

I couldn’t figure out why when you clicked on “Trackback” on any post on my blog, that it didn’t show a trackback url, but it turns out that my fancy black background camouflaged the black text. It works now though.

I found this story to be a bit laughable. I never watched the first two American Idol seasons, but gave it a shot this season. I can’t say I’m terribly impressed, and could only make it through each episode because Tivo allows me to only watch the most interesting parts. I got though last night’s hour long show in about 15 minutes (and will get through tonight’s half hour elimination show in about 2 minutes). Anyway, last week the theme was Elton John songs, and Elton John sat in with the judges. Apparently he thinks that the show is a sign of racism and sexism. Of last night’s six contestants, four are women, and three of the six are black. There is only one white guy left on the show, and one white girl, the rest are minorities. It amazes me how nothing is good enough for these people. I assumed that most people watching are like me, hoping the best person wins. Last year a black man won. The year before, a woman won. I think Elton John is the racist. He just despises his own race. I long for the day when liberalism collapses under it’s own weight and these specious charges become a thing of the past.

Let the best man (or woman) win, regardless of skin color.

My Utmost for His Highest

Thy life will I give thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest. – Jeremiah 14:5

This is the unshakable secret of the Lord to those who trust Him – “I will give thee thy life.” What more does a man want than his life? It is the essential thing. “Thy life for a prey” means that wherever you may go, even if it is into hell, you will come out with your life, nothing can harm it. So many of us are caught up in the shows of things, not in the way of property and possessions, but of blessings. All these have to go; but there is something grander that never can go – the life that is “hid with Christ in God.”

Are you prepared to let God take you into union with Himself, and pay no more attention to what you call the great things? Are you prepared to abandon entirely and let go? The test of abandonment is in refusing to say – “Well, what about this?” Beware of suppositions. Immediately you allow – What about this? – it means you have not abandoned, you do not really trust God. Immediately you do abandon, you think no more about what God is going to do. Abandon means to refuse yourself the luxury of asking any questions. If you abandon entirely to God, He says at once, “Thy life will I give thee for a prey.” The reason people are tired of life is because God has not given them anything, they have not got their life as a prey. The way to get out of that state is to abandon to God. When you do get through to abandonment to God, you will be the most surprised and delighted creature on earth; God has got you absolutely and has given you your life. If you are not there, it is either because of disobedience or a refusal to be simple enough.

Specious Arguments

Thanks to The Ruminator, Sarah , for pointing out on her blog a great article on abortion proponents by David Limbaugh. He does a great job of showing just how stupid a lot of pro-abortion arguments are.

I received an e-mail from a lady who went to the march as a “ProtestWarrior.” She said the marchers desecrated her sign, screamed insults and made profane gestures and that one man physically hurled her to the ground. She said, “These tolerant, inclusive, choice liberals were the most hateful 800,000 people the 12 members of PW ever encountered.”

Score 1 for the Republic

I’ve heard of a lot of legislation lately that seems to fly in the face of the Constitution (it’s not hard since most people have never read the Constitution.) That said, this story was a delight to read. The House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed a bill that would require swift elections to replace members killed in terrorist attacks. This ensures that they would not be replaced by people appointed by their home state’s governors. What boggles my mind is why anyone would vote against that bill; as 7 Republicans, 89 Democrats, and an Independent did.

Abdullah Columbus?

The big lie in the Middle East is that the “Palestinians” have continually occupied the Holy Land for thousands of years, when in reality the term “Palestinian” meant Israeli Jew until the late 1960’s. Their entire case in their arguement that Israel is evil and should be wiped out hinges on that false arguement. Now it seems they have their sights set on America. This is not only an insult to Native Americans, as the article states, but it’s also an insult to the intelligence of the rest of the world. The primary reason I have little respect for Arab/Muslim culture is that, as a whole, they insult the rest of the world with the most unbelievable of lies and expect everyone to believe them, depsite their own experience. It may work with left-liberal intellectuals, but not with those of us who are free thinking.

As I grow older, and understand more and more about how the world opperates, I wonder what’s next?
