I’m thinking I may do an irregular (as opposed to regular) Blog Spotlight. I was going to call it “blog of the week”, but I don’t plan to actually do it every week, or any scheduled amount of time for that matter.

The first one seemed pretty obvious to me. Vox Popoli sort of inspired me to do my own blog. The biggest reason I originally set out to do a blog was to see if I could get Movable Type installed on a computer platform I know little about. It kind of grew from there. Anyway, Vox Popoli inspired me to look into the blog software in the first place.

Vox Popoli is the blog of Vox Day, World Net Daily columnist and fellow Minnesotan. Vox writes on a wide range of subjects, from his Libertarian political views to advice on how to attract a mate and stories of his time in a martial arts dojo. He’s very intelligent, and very articulate. He loves to argue with those who disagree with him, and tends to cut them to shreds.

Vox Popoli is a good read. I check it out daily, and try to read every post. (Well, I tend to skip the ones about European Soccer). The comments section is where the real entertainment goes on though. I enjoy the (non-soccer related) posts, but can spend all day in the comments. The regulars are all intelligent people, and some are pretty funny reads. One in particular started his own blog almost as a spin-off of Vox Popoli just to share his funny stories, but that’s the subject of a future spotlight.

  1. Heck, I didn’t even know that the common folk could have their own blogs until I visited his through worldnetdaily!

Then, my blogspot corner was conceptualized and then conceived. Through steady development and adaptation every now and then, it has grown into a wonderful little space for me.

Your blog is good. I think more people should come here.

Back to Vox Popoli, I mostly let my eyes glaze over any sports post or post having to do with some techie thing I know little about. But, it’s pretty cool – my favourite part – when folks try to rip him apart and find themselves horribly brutalized in the process.

  2. I too am a regular VoxPopoli reader and came to be through his weekly WND pieces. Actually the reason I began reading other blogs, yours included, and have begun my own, was due in large part to Vox’s. I’ll be the first to say that I’m not a great author or have a penchant for writing. Throwing my writing and opinions out there such as they are for anyone to decimate was an act of bravery in itself. The engaging free-for-all that Vox’s blog presents is enjoyable and I often visit the blogs of those who post to the threads thereon to get a better view of their opinions. Such was the case in this instance.
