I don’t know much about Canadian politics at all, but this article, by Hal Lindsey, makes it sound as though Canada may be waking up to the fact that liberalism is inherently self-destructive. The current Prime Minister’s attack adds against his opponent, saying that abortion-on-demand may go away and bill C-250 – effectively making the Bible “hate speech” – would be repealed, are having almost no effect in the polls.

I’m not vastly more informed about the political situation in Canada after reading the column, but I still found it interesting.

My favorite quote was:

Incumbent Paul Martin clearly hopes that a focus on abortion and “gay” rights will bolster Liberal support. But a recent study across Canada showed that homosexuals, as a percentage of the Canadian population, number somewhere between 1.7 percent and 2.2 percent – which is approximately the same percentage of the population that believes they’ve been abducted by UFOs. Hmmm.

  1. Yes, it’s true. Paul Martin is doing that but it is even worse than that. Not only is he saying that abortion-on-demand will not be available in Canada anymore (if my info is correct, we don’t have an abortion law in Canada at all – no restrictions at all even though a majority of Canadians – about 70% – AT LEAST supports some restrictions)..anyways, it was worse than Martin using euphemisms to say that abortion-on-demand will be denied. There was a tv ad (forgive me, I didn’t go to the link you provided) showing pregnant girls crying next to a hospital and the ominous words of Stephen Harper wanting to deny a woman’s ‘right to choose’.

The other scare tactick is that there is anti-American political sentiment here in Canada. Martin is using that to his advantage saying that Harper is too close of a GOP-Bush politician. We’ll get closer to American policy, says Martin. It’s incredible, AO. Just incredible. Even the uber-socialist NDP party is not going down to the level of nastiness that Martin is.

I will be very happy when the Liberals fall from the heavens to the earth burning like a comet in it’s humiliation.

  2. All you need to know about Canadian politics right now is that Paul Martin is a criminal and will hopefully go to jail for his crimes. Forget about becoming prime minister.

While Minister of Finance, Martin illegally funneled 250 million public tax dollars into the pockets of Liberal-friendly consulting firms in Quebec in the form of bogus sponsorship deals. These firms then made lucrative contributions back to the Liberal Party of Canada. This is pure criminal embezzlement and Paul Martin was the ring leader, chief architect and chief executor of this atrocious scam on the decent, hard-working Canadian citizenry.

But the liberal media (along with the publically operated CBC) are treating the issue with kid gloves. If Martin was a conservative, they would be hauling him to the Hague.

So long Paul. Your last ditch effort to smear Mr. Harper and the Conservatives only serves to remind everyone of what a villinous snake you are.

  3. I sent an email to my Liberal MP campaign office. He has done many things I was pleased with. His voting record on prolife issues is awesome. He has always been cordial with me – willing to listen. His staff was wonderful. Although there were a couple things I was disappointed in, honestly if it were not for Paul Martin I would have a more difficult time deciding. We don’t have any Libertarian or Freedom Party candidates in my riding so all I have to choose between are the Greens, the NDP (the latter two are far left), the Liberals, the Conservatives, or the Marijuana Party and also an independent. If it were not for Paul Martin’s vicious attacks, the sponsorship scandals, the LIES that the Liberals have been chronically engaged in for all these 10 years in office, well I don’t know. All I know is that I cannot and will not be voting Liberal.
