I’m glad that I’m called to be in this world but not of it. I just don’t understand it. Nineteen Muslim’s overflowing with seething hatred killed over 2000 people at once on American soil, and are rewarded by our culture by giving Islam greater respect and recognition. Before Sept. 11, 2001, most Americans knew very little about Islam. Now their holidays are showing up on our calendars and we are moving to integrate their culture into ours for the sake of their immigrants, rather than encouraging their imigrants to integrate our culture into theirs.

Dave Hunt wrote a great book outlining the case that the Roman Catholic Church is the whore of Babylon described in Revelation 17 called A Woman Rides the Beast. I own a copy of the book, and respect the depth of research and documentation that went into laying out his case. I respectfully disagree though, even though I have nowhere near the level of research into the subject as he has. I am becoming increasingly convinced that the whore is Islam. Islam meets all of the requirements laid out in Revelation of the whore, and seems to be far more aggressive towards the saints than the Catholic Church. Islam also has it’s own eschatology that strikes me as being remarkably like Christian eschatology, but looking at it from the other side. They believe that Jesus will return, as we do, but they believe Jesus will come to kill all of the Christians and Jews, to set up a kingdom where Islam is enforced worldwide. It would not surprise me if Anti-Christ was a muslim. If this man came and claimed to be Christ in some form or another, and began killing Christians, Islam would herald him as fulfillment of their prophecy. The Catholic Church has no equivalent prophecy, as they have the same scripture as the rest of the Christian Church.

Another argument I make against the whore being the Catholic Church is that it is widely accepted that the Church of Thyatira in Revelation 2 is prophetic of the Catholic Church. How can one church be both a legitimate part of the Church of Christ, however faulty, and also be the despised whore of Babylon at the same time? I think it’s one or the other.

What brought on this topic? I have a small calendar, one where you peel a page off for each new day, that I got at the office Christmas Party. For tomorrow, it says “First of Muharram”. I looked it up, and Muharram is the first month on the Islamic calendar. I don’t remember ever coming across some Islamic event on any calendar in America before Sept. 11, 2001.

It will be interesting to watch events unfold in this regard. I am of the belief that the return of Jesus Christ is very near. I hope to not be here when the worst of the end takes place. Regardless of when the rapture takes place though, it gives me a lot of hope to know that He is coming back. If I’m wrong about the rapture, there are some incredibly hard times ahead, but in the overall scheme of things I say “Bring it on!!!!”
