The best news I’ve heard this week is that Mark Dayton will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2006. Dayton is an extremely liberal Senator, and in my opinion a disgrace to Minnesotans.

I don’t have a whole lot to say about the matter other than I’m happy. I am hoping his seat is filled by either Congressman Mark Kennedy or former Senator Rod Grams, who lost his re-election campaign to Dayton in 2000.

(I often like to joking call him Mark Marshal Fields in light of the change of the name of the Dayton’s Department Stores to Marshal Fields just a few years ago. Mark Dayton is a part of the family that used to own the department store chain. Marshal Fields was sold last year)
