Lately I’ve been geting hammered with comment spam again. MT-Blacklist has stopped some of it, but a lot of it is getting through. I decided the only effective way to deal with it is to close comments on entries older than a few weeks.
That’s no easy task though, I have almost 700 entries since I started my blog. I found a little script that will do it automatically though. The original was listed here. I couldn’t get it to work right though, so I read through the comments to see what might be the fix. A lot of people were having the same problem as me, and someone else patched the script to work right. The fixed version is here. I put up the non-working one because the instructions on how to install and run it are there. I hope that those of you using Movable Type that have the same problem with spam as me can put it to good use too.
