With only an hour left in the day, I realized that today is the first anniversary of this blog. 596 posts, 180 comments, and 5,146 hits!

I didn’t start it looking for an audience, but rather to get my thoughts down and to remember events. I meant it more as a publicly accessible journal than a stage. I’ve very much enjoyed the comradery that has come from it since then. I’ve made a few good “Blog Friends”, and have enjoyed trading links & hits with a few of you.

It’s tending to grow a little more towards giving something to an audience, and I won’t try to stop that, but I will continue to write what I wish. I won’t hold anything back for fear of what others might think or write anything out of any sense of obligation. The blogs I tend to check regularly are the same way, and I think if you’re not a professional pundit, that’s the way it should be.

Blogs originally seemed to me to be a bit weird. I wondered what I could possibly write that was of interest to anyone but myself. I started mine in boredom thinking it would be cool to install a piece of software on my Linux computer without the aid of my “Linux Guru” friend. When I had the installation complete, I had some fun playing with it, and it’s grown from there.

I never did well in English classes growing up, and never really enjoyed writing. Over the last year, I’ve gotten more and more into it, and now have a growing desire to write a few books. Shortly after starting this blog, I even floated the idea of writing my own daily devotional, similar to the “My Utmost for His Highest” book by Oswald Chambers, from which I quote here five to seven days a week.

The first year has been fun, and I look forward to many more to come. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll continue to come back.
