<rant> Today was a relatively short day at work. That doesn’t mean it went great though. I was subbing on a route rated at about 3½ hours, and it took me about 6 hours to do. The biggest thing that frustrated me was that after I got all the mail sorted, pulled from the case, and ready to put in my truck, I pulled my truck into the garage to load it. When I got back to the case to get everything, they had dumped another tray of mail on me. Now, some mail comes presorted. They call it DPS (Delivery point sequenced). This was NOT DPS mail. I didn’t know what to do. I thought I might have to put all of the mail back in the case to add this new mail. I hoped maybe the manager on duty would allow me to just leave it for Monday, but that was really unrealistic. I ended up sorting the new mail without touching the mail I already sorted to get it in order. Then when I was delivering it, I had to basically deliver out of two different boxes at the same time. The first box had mail at every house, and the second had mail at various houses, but not necessarily every house. It all worked out in the end, but it took longer to sort, and longer to deliver. Most fortunately, I will never have to deliver that route again. </rant>
