I had a pretty good day at work today. I had to work a route that I have never worked before, and when I first heard this would be the case, I understood I would be working it alone, but that wasn’t the case. My immediate supervisor’s wife is, like me, a substitute carrier. She has also previously never delivered this route, but she did all the sorting and delivered half the route, so all I had to do was deliver the other half. In addition, by the time we left to deliver, some of the other drivers were getting back, so there was a delivery van free. I was able to use that van, which made delivery much easier because I didn’t have to drive from the passenger seat, and I could keep more mail at arms reach, minimizing the need to get out to get more cases of mail from the back.
I also found out that the same supervisor and wife are Christians. This was great news for me. It also explained why they are such cool people. It turns out they go to the same church as the one I do singles Bible study with twice a month.
