I got my trip in yesterday. A co-worker and I flew to Indiana to measure a building we are going to be working on. It was a total blast. We did about 4 hours of work, and spent about 5 hours in the air. I had so much fun in the airplane, I told my co-worker it was almost like a 3 day weekend for me. I brought my log book from my time in pilot training a few years ago, and the pilot logged 5 hours of cross-country instruction for me. That’s 5 hours I didn’t have to pay for!

The airport we flew into was just hilarious. It had a fairly short, beaten up runway and was in the middle of a trailor-park. It was short enough that the pilot put the landing gear up almost immediately after takeoff to reduce drag and give us as much speed (and thus lift) as possible. Normally a pilot waits until you’re high enough that you have time to drop the gear again if you need to make an emergency landing.

Today is a bit slow. My boss is out of the office until Thursday, and he’s the one giving me work. Today I am drawing the building I measured yesterday, but I’ve been here 2 hours and am about halfway done already. Tomorrow should be one of those slow days when I consider watching a movie to pass the time.
