The Comcast guy was just here regarding the snipped wire incident I had last week. I had fixed the wire myself, but them to put one of their nicer connectors on the wire to make sure I wouldn’t get static introduced from my less professional fitting. The guy said it was already done. He couldn’t figure out what my trouble was.

Seems someone in the neighborhood likely didn’t pay their bill and my wire was cut because the guy in charge of disconnecting the neighbor’s service got the addresses mixed up.

Well, it’s nice to know that I wasn’t the victim of a vandal. Hopefully Comcast will get their billing and no-pay customer lists straightened out.

  1. Glad to know it was a somewhat painless fix.

I’ve used several different types of connectors for coax and the compression fittings that Comcast and other satellite companies use are the best. The screw on and crimp on fittings just don’t work that well. I ended up getting a compression fitting tool just for that kind of stuff. Expensive? Yeah, I know but I just LOVE TOOLS.

  2. I wouldn’t mind one of those tools. I am currently rewiring my house with RG-6 cabling, as needed. I’ve been using the twist on connectors. They’ve worked ok for me, but I agree that the compression fittings are much better.
