I’ve heard of a lot of legislation lately that seems to fly in the face of the Constitution (it’s not hard since most people have never read the Constitution.) That said, this story was a delight to read. The House of Representatives has overwhelmingly passed a bill that would require swift elections to replace members killed in terrorist attacks. This ensures that they would not be replaced by people appointed by their home state’s governors. What boggles my mind is why anyone would vote against that bill; as 7 Republicans, 89 Democrats, and an Independent did.
